"Healthy cities" create a supportive health environment, provide basic sanitation and individual health needs, provide access to health services, and improve the quality of life of residents. A "healthy city" is a city that continuously creates and improves its physical built environment and social environment and expands community resources so that residents can support each other, fulfill the multiple needs of life and develop to their maximum potential. The "Healthy City" is supported by a healthy environment, economy and society to ensure and promote the health of individuals and groups.

Healthy cities were promoted by the World Health Organization in 1981. According to the data shown by the World Health Organization, there are 112 cities with more than one million people, and by 2025 at the latest, more than 60% of the world's population will live in cities. The problems brought by the industrialized society, including health, pollution, environmental protection, ecology and other problems, will become more and more serious, the World Health Organization began to promote the concept of healthy cities, hoping that the densely populated city is not only the negative impact of living tension, environmental pollution, but also should make the city healthy and happy.

The World Health Organization defines a healthy city as a process rather than a result:

Healthy cities are not just about achieving specific health conditions.

A healthy city is a continuous improvement of health awareness, based on which any city can be a "healthy city" regardless of its current subjective and objective conditions.

What is needed for a "healthy city" is a process and structure to achieve this goal.

"Healthy cities" can continuously improve the natural and social environment, expand social resources, and enable residents to develop their maximum potential in life.
